About Us
Hi my name is Doug Sorensen. I am one of the managing partners
at the Portal RV Resort in Moab, Utah and the Park City RV Resort
in Park City, Utah. I have been in the development business for the
past twenty five years, and have always had a passion for the RV
life style.
About 10 years ago, while traveling around the country staying at
different RV parks, my frustration with the many problems and
challenges staying at these parks encouraged me to take action. I
researched the RV community to find out what RV owners wanted
from a RV park. Important factors were reliable power, wide roads,
easy entry and exit from the park and the sites, upscale amenities,
large sites with plenty of room between the sites for privacy, an
open space feeling and nice views. They wanted a RV Resort, so I
started to design and developed resorts with strong focus on the RV
owner’s needs and desires. I have since then designed numerous
resorts including The Park City RV Resort and the Portal RV Resort.
When my partners and I decided to build the Portal Resort we wanted to design a world class RV
Resort so we spared no expense. This one-of-a-kind resort has state of the art amenities such as 200
amp services, natural gas and cable TV to every lot, WI-FI and five star landscaping. Roads are 32
feet in width with curb and gutter. Our pads have been upgraded to 6 inch thick concrete and 51/2
bag mix with fiber mesh reinforcement.
We are also very excited to offer unique one-of-a-kind casita models, as an option to put on your
lot. A lot of reseach and consideration was put into the design of these two story casitas again using
only the best products available, granite counter tops and porcelain floors, plus optional whole
house audio, and out door covered patios. These are not your basic park models. These are large
comfortable “second homes” that you will have a hard time leaving.
When we decided to build our resort we wanted to create a home-away-from-home environment
for all to enjoy. Plenty of open space was a high priority, so we built a custom pool and spa and a
large beautiful Koi fish pond surrounded by walking paths, beautiful lanscaping and benches.
The lots are very large with plenty of space between them for added privacy. We feel we have
successfully created a resort with a “small community feel” and from the feedback we have
received our visitors agree.
We initially spent a lot of time looking for the perfect location to build this world class RV resort
and we found it here in Moab. We are only five minutes from the Arches National Park and just
five minutes from down town Moab. But our best feature is by far the stunning panoramic views
and the fact that we are set back off the highway so there is no highway noise. A nice bonus is that
the back of the resort borders the open protected Matheson Wetlands. These are views that you will
stay with you forever.
After a day of hiking, biking, and jeeping, or shopping in down town Moab end your day in your
hot tub under a crystal clear night sky, gazing at the bright stars. It’s hard to imaging a better place.
I fell in love with this resort and made it my second home. One problem I have with staying here is
that I never want to leave and go back to the real world! I’m sure when you come to visit and see
the stunning panoramas, the beautiful landscaping, and the quality of craftsmanship, you will
never want to leave either.
Our lots are going fast and this is a once in a life time chance to own a great property in one of the
most beautiful places in the world. If you would like more information on how to be a part of this
opportunity please fill free to give me a call or send me an email. I look forward to working with
you to make your dream a reality.
Sincerely,
Doug Sorensen
